Motahareh NabaviGraduate Student, University of Ottawa
Motahareh Nabavi received her BA in Political Science and Criminology at the University of Toronto, where she was actively involved as executive members of both the TMA and the MSA. She worked to bridge the gap between the two groups by creating open intra-faith dialogues and events. She also interned at the Multi-Faith Center, organizing cultural and religious program, the highlight being a three part series on the life and poetry of Mawlana Rumi.
She is currently completing her MA in Education, with her thesis focusing on the spiritual development of Muslim youth in the West through their exploration of literature in their multiple cultural worlds. Her aim is to transcend dichotomous and binary narratives about being a Muslim in the West and promote a holistic, healthy, and expansive vision of their spiritual becomings.
